associate degree or baccalaureate level, current Texas license issued by Board of Nurse Examiners.
Must have a car, driver’s license, and liability insurance.

Technical Skills, Responsibilities, and Duties
|

Major Responsibilities and Duties
- Provides appraisals and assessment services of health and medical needs to students to determine appropriate referrals for medical/physical services.
- Establish and maintain current and accurate records including health records, medical services, home visitations, and parent conferences, referrals, etc.
- Supervise and train staff on special procedure.
- Follow-up on medical problems and defects.
- Teach and supervise LVN’s and Nurse’s Aides.
- Follow up with positive Tuberculin skin test on new students.
- Provide emergency assistance to injured students and/or children who become ill at school.
- Assist in communicable disease control according to Texas Department of Health guideline.
- Liaison between doctors, health agencies, and schools for medical information.
- Health counseling to students, parents, and personnel.
- Routine screening, vision, hearing, spinal, gait, height and weight.
- Arrange transportation of injured students.
- Classroom health instruction when requested.
- On call to all schools for medical emergencies.
- Dispense medication according to policy.
- Assume the responsibility for professional growth for license renewal requirements.
- Perform nursing duties requested by the principal, provided these duties fall within the limitations of an RN.

Standard medical clinic equipment including automated external defibrillator (AED); special needs adaptive equipment; standard office equipment including computer and peripherals

Frequent walking, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension
Lifting:
Frequent light lifting and carrying (under 15 pounds); may require regular heavy lifting (45 pounds or more) and position of students with physical disabilities; controlling behavior through physical restraint, assisting non-ambulatory students
Environment:
Exposure to biological hazards, bacteria, and communicable diseases Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
