Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Must have knowledge and experience in the philosophy of early childhood education
- Developmentally appropriate practice and bilingual education
- Must show emotional maturity, willingness to cooperate with the aims of the program
- Respect for children and adults, flexibility, patience and good personal hygiene
Additional Requirements:
- A tuberculosis test and a background check as required
- Must be available Monday-Friday 4:00 – 6:00 pm
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Trustees may find appropriate and acceptable

Technical Skills, Responsibilities and Duties

Major Responsibilities and Duties
- Perform the functions of this position with strong and thorough knowledge and application of Developmentally Appropriate Practices for students
- Actively participate with age-appropriate interactions and classrooms activities such as free play, and floor time, may include diaper changing, and follow procedures to receive and discharge the children
- Cooperate with program and campus principal, staff, and other classroom groups to maintain the smooth functioning of the PSJA Project Care Program, which at timesmay require changes to meet the needs of the children
- Follows established program procedures
- Assist children in development of social and self-help skills
- Meet with needed personnel to exchange information pertinent to the services of children with disabilities
- Attend trainings, meetings, and parent meetings as requested
- Maintain a safe and healthy classroom environment. Assure that classroom equipment, furniture, materials, and supplies are properly maintained
- Use the playground as an extension of the classroom as allowed by campus preincipal; assures that the playground is safe
- Complete and submit required forms and records in a timely and accurate fashion, e.g., attendance sheets, parent pick up form,
- Oversight: Attend trainings as needed
- Assure that files are complete, accurate, and confidentially maintained
- Perform other duties, as may be required
Mental and Physical Demands / Environmental Factors:
Tools/Equipment Used: Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment
Posture: Prolonged sitting; frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion: Frequent walking
Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (under 15 pounds); Occasional heavy lifting (45 pounds and over); may be required to lift and transfer students to and from wheelchair or assist with positioning of students with disabilities
Environment: Work inside, may work outside; regular districtwide travel to student homes
Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; may work prolonged or irregular hours
