Primary Purpose:                                  Pay Grade:   M/T 6 @ 260days      

To provide safe and efficient transportation so that students may enjoy the fullest possible advantage from the district’s curriculum and extracurricular program.

 

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

High School Diploma or GED (English)

Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License (will need to acquire class B or A with

“P” & “S” Endorsement upon hiring)

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language

Must have enough command of the English language to effectively make oral and/or written presentations on activities relate to his/her job responsibility

Be able to communicate using modern communication technology (telephone, two-way radio, etc.)

Basic computer skills in the operation of personal computers or display terminals

Basic knowledge of building repair and maintenance procedures

Basic skills in human relations

 

Experience:

One or more years of outstanding performance, while working for P-SJ-A ISD

At least two year’s of outstanding performance while working for a reputable company which specializes or is closely related to the job responsibilities as listed in the job description

 

 

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Trustees may find appropriate and acceptable.

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

 

  1. To maintain the school district’s bus fleet in good working order and makes necessary repairs efficiently as assigned.
  2.  To make necessary repairs on Cafeteria vehicles as assigned.
  3.  Be able to fill out proper forms on report of repair work on vehicles.
  4.  To make safety checks on buses on a schedule set up by Shop Supervisor.
  5.  To review entire vehicle and repair other defects before releasing vehicle.
  6.  To notify the Director of Transportation or Shop Supervisor immediately of any   mechanical condition which is dangerous to the operation of the vehicle.
  7.  To be able to respond to calls after regular working hours or on weekends.
  8.  To observe safety standards in performing duties.
  9.  To keep abreast of new techniques and attend classes or workshops for self   improvement.
  10.  To be a qualified school bus driver for the purpose of delivering of students to and from school due to absenteeism of special education drivers.
  11.  To perform all other duties as assigned by he Director of Transportation.
