JOB SUMMARY:
The part-time dive coach position is responsible for helping instruct diving classes, coaching, supervising teams, and leading organized workouts. The Head Coach provides supervision; however, work is performed independently with latitude for decision-making. The part-time coach will primarily help Head Diving Coach in coaching the lower levels fundamental skills. The assistant may be required to travel in all out of town meets to help with supervision.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Mentally and physically fit
- Eighteen years of age or older
- Ability to pass CPR and First Aid Certification
- Ability to become USA Diving or AAU Dive Coach Certified
Any combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the responsibilities identified in this job posting may also be considered.
Experience:
Previous experience working with children
Prior competitive diving experience is desired but not required
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Trustees may find appropriate and acceptable

Technical Skills, Responsibilities, and Duties

Major Responsibilities and Duties
- Instruct diving lesson program within the guidelines established by PSJA ISD.
- Develop lesson plans implementing competitive diving criteria.
- Identify pre- and post-session skill levels in students.
- Complete the necessary diving team records.
- Communicate with parents, pool patrons, and staff in a professional and courteous manner.
- Help develop season plan for competitive diving.
- Coach and develop divers to standards of respective ability/skill group.
- Uphold and adhere to safety rules.
- Be adaptable and flexible in acceptance of changes in techniques and procedures.
- Keep abreast of innovative practices.
- Maintain a professional level of confidentiality regarding all district matters.
- Support the goals and objectives of the district and follow district policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
