Purpose:
This position will teach both adults and children how to swim in a life-threatening, high physical-contact environment.
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED
American Red Cross Swim training (employer provided)
Ability to become an American Red Cross certified lifeguard or water safety instructor (possibly provided by employer)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Effective interpersonal skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Experience:
Previous experience working with children
Prior competitive swimming experience preferred
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Trustees may find appropriate and acceptable

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Instruct swimming lesson program within the guidelines established by PSJA
- Develop lesson plans implementing PSJA ISD Aquatics
- Identify pre- and post-session skill levels in
- Complete the necessary PSJA ISD Aquatics
- Communicate with parents, pool patrons, and staff in a professional and courteous
- Select those students eligible for the competitive swimming and diving
- Uphold and adhere to safety
- Be adaptable and flexible in acceptance of changes in techniques and
- Keep abreast of innovative
- Maintain a professional level of confidentiality regarding all district
- Support the goals and objectives of the district and follow district
- Perform other duties assigned

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals; multi-line phone system
Posture: Continuous sitting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions including reaching. Frequent keyboarding and use of mouse.
Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds) Environment: Reception desk in the administrative/central office
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
